“The team has been diligently reviewing your feedback.”
In light of Civilization VII‘s recent launch, the developers at Firaxis Games have recognized player input by highlighting three crucial areas they will likely be focusing on in the near future – with a “development roadmap” to be unveiled as soon as possible.
Players can anticipate the forthcoming elements to be addressed, including a patch update in March, as well as enhancements to multiplayer:
1. Emphasizing UI Enhancements: Our primary focus is improving the user interface. We need some time to absorb all of your suggestions, but certain aspects that we are already examining include making UI interactions more user-friendly, enhancing map readability, correcting polish issues such as formatting, and more. We are committed to perfecting this, and will share more information as soon as we are able.
2. Implementing Community-Requested Features: Numerous key elements that we have noted you requesting will be included in upcoming patches as complimentary updates, and we will continue collaborating with the community to refine and expand the game. We are still determining the exact timing, but can confirm that the following items are being prioritized:
– Adding Teams to multiplayer matches for cooperative play
– Permitting complete player counts in multiplayer across all three Ages through enhancements to our Distant Lands system.
– Allowing players to select their starting and ending Ages to enable single or double Age games.
– Providing a significantly wider variety of map types.
– Allowing city and religion names to be customizable.
– Including hotseat multiplayer.3. Introducing Quality-of-Life Updates in Patch 1.1.0 (Launching in March): Work is already well underway on Patch 1.1.0, which contains resolutions and adjustments that were previously on our radar. This list features quality-of-life UI updates, ongoing AI balancing and improvements, revisions to diplomacy and crises, along with additional bug fixes.
In the same announcement on the official game website, the team expresses its intention to support Civilization VII for “years to come.”
