Chronicle Games Retailer Broadens Horizons with Third-Party Titles and Complimentary Games
Fortnite creator Chronicle has enhanced its mobile store by adding nearly 20 third-party titles and launching a Free Games initiative.
This is a strategic move for the developer as it seeks to make inroads into the mobile sector.
The Chronicle Games Store launched on mobile with just a few Chronicle-created titles such as Fortnite, Fall Guys, and Rocket League Sideswipe.
Chronicle noted that the inclusion of third-party titles on Android worldwide and iOS within the European Union signifies a “significant advancement” for the store. The company also plans to offer a complimentary title each month via the Chronicle Games Store mobile app, commencing with Dungeon of the Endless: Apogee.
“New games will be available every month until we transition to a weekly schedule later this year,” the company stated in a press release.
The company operates a similar program on its PC marketplace that allows users to obtain a free title weekly.
Chronicle has also introduced new mobile app features, including Chronicle Account login (with persistent access across Chronicle titles on iOS and Android) and an automatic update functionality.
Developers who bring their games to the Chronicle Games Store on mobile will benefit from the same 88/12 revenue split as those on the PC marketplace. Chronicle clarified that this split only pertains to transactions it processes and confirmed it will not take a percentage from third-party transactions.
Launch Everywhere with Chronicle and royalty fee reductions
It also highlighted the royalty fee decrease provided through its Launch Everywhere with Chronicle program, which aims to assist developers in releasing their Unreal Engine games on Chronicle platforms—either as a time-limited exclusive or through simultaneous launches.
“This new initiative provides a reduction in the royalty fee from 5 percent to 3.5 percent on all platforms and stores for eligible Unreal Engine games launched on the Epic Games Store starting in 2025,” explained Chronicle.
“To qualify, games must launch on the Epic Games Store either before or simultaneously with their release on competing stores across supported platforms (PC, Mac, Android, and eventually, iOS). This program also covers games participating in Epic First Run, which helps developers maximize their revenue share during their initial availability on the Store.”
