Celebrating the Legacy of Don James: A Tribute by AIAS to Nintendo’s Iconic Figure
Longstanding government vice president of operations to receive Lifetime Achievement Award at the 28th annual DICE Awards next year
The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences has announced that former Don James of Nintendo of America will be honored with the AIAS Lifetime Achievement Award.
According to VGC, James will receive this prestigious award at the 28th annual DICE Awards ceremony scheduled for February 13, 2025.
James began his tenure at Nintendo of America as executive vice president of operations in 1981, serving the company for four decades until his retirement in August 2024.
He was also involved in the establishment of the Entertainment Software Rating Board and played a role in the formation of the Interactive Digital Software Association, which is now known as the Entertainment Software Association.
“Don James has been both a modest and essential figure in the gaming industry, from his pioneering efforts at Nintendo of America to his dedication at the Starlight Children’s Foundation,” stated AIAS president Meggan Scavio.
“He has spearheaded numerous impactful initiatives that have fostered enduring change throughout his career.”
