“Blood of Dawnwalker: A Refined Vampire RPG Experience From The Witcher 3 Lead”
Former Witcher 3 lead quest designer Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz shares that his new vampire RPG Blood of Dawnwalker features a relatively smaller open world because he wants players to genuinely feel familiar with the setting.
In an interview with GamesRadar+, Tomaszkiewicz mentions that the open world games he cherished while growing up were more compact experiences like Gothic, especially when compared to massive titles like The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall.
“It was an open world, but much more confined, and that shaped my experience differently compared to these giants where it’s nearly impossible to know every single detail due to their enormity, causing you to hurry through them,” Tomaszkiewicz explains. “However, when the world is somewhat smaller, and you take the time to explore it more leisurely, you start to remember these locations, making it feel like you truly know the place. It creates a sense of being more connected to it.”
