Bossa Games Faces Uncertainty Amid Unexplained Staffing Reductions
“We hope we could have discovered a method to navigate this chaos without having to resort to the choice of reducing our teams.”
Bossa Games is currently facing another round of job cuts, impacting an undisclosed number of employees.
In a statement shared on LinkedIn, co-founder and co-CEO Henrique Olifiers mentioned that the studio has opted to “reduce” its workforce following the release of Lost Skies.
“We have been compelled to make the difficult choice of scaling back, concentrating on the late-stage development of Lost Skies and its imminent launch, to make sure the game is successfully launched and improved for its audience in the foreseeable future,” Olifiers stated.
“Once Lost Skies is established and enjoying live operations, we will reform into smaller teams working independently on new game concepts that we hope to present to players as soon as possible.”
He further commented: “We wish we had discovered an avenue to navigate this upheaval without the need to shrink our teams, but regrettably, we have not succeeded in this attempt.”
Olifiers highlighted the challenging state of the gaming industry, noting that it has had a direct effect on their decision.
“The last few years have caused significant disruption across the gaming sector as a whole.”
