It has been quite a while since MercurySteam launched a well-known game, but the studio behind Metroid: Samus Returns and Metroid Dread has finally unveiled a significant look at its forthcoming dark narrative action-RPG, Blades of Fury. In the announcement trailer below, players are introduced to Aran de Lira as he readies himself to confront his destiny against formidable adversaries. Fortunately for Aran, he is well-equipped with weapons of his own design.
In the game’s backstory, Aran is the firstborn of the King’s Ward and is compelled to take a stand after the recently crowned Queen Nerea employs dark magic to solidify her power in the kingdom. Due to Nerea’s spell, all metals in the realm have turned to stone, leaving only the corrupted beings at her command with the divine metal capable of demolishing any modern weapon used against them.
This is why Aran must craft his own weapons to counteract the divine metal’s strength, and there are numerous different weapons that can be selected. Players will have to determine which weapons are most effective against the wide array of monsters they encounter throughout the game. Choosing the wrong weapon could have dire consequences, leaving Aran unable to vanquish his enemies.
