“Big Stalker 2 Update Tackles Major Glitches, Enhances Gameplay with 80+ Cutscene Fixes and Nearly 2,000 Bug Resolutions”
Stalker 2 debuted this November surrounded by a multitude of critical bugs associated with it, prompting the developer GSC Game World to release a substantial update to tackle the challenging bug management task.
“Just prior to Christmas and New Year, we are prepared to roll out Patch 1.1,” the developer writes on Steam, marking the first update of its kind. It reportedly addresses over 1,800 issues, beginning with a highly anticipated improvement to the FPS survival horror game’s NPC AI system A-Life.
NPCs should now no longer be able to unexpectedly spawn behind you or appear out of thin air, alleviating many players’ frustrations with Stalker 2’s unpredictable combat situations. NPCs are also expected to appear less unnatural (barring their radiation tumors, at least). Enhancements addressing a wide array of visual issues – including mutants flying like planes after being shot with a shotgun, or NPCs being unable to navigate through fields of corpses – guarantee this outcome.
In addition to NPC appearances and behaviors, GSC Game World has also updated Stalker 2 by fixing 250 major mission glitches, 500 visual problems involving foliage and flickering, and rectified 80 cutscene issues concerning facial animations, haptic feedback, and absent NPCs. The developer has made performance improvements by resolving some game freezes and FPS drops near bodies of water, along with many additional changes. If that doesn’t make you feel like a child on Christmas morning, I’m unsure what will. Perhaps a glass of warm milk?
Finally, GSC Game World acknowledges that its Patch 1.1 contains a great deal of content. “We realize that the scale of the update is substantial, and the download process will take some time,” the developer states on Steam. “We appreciate your patience, and we will continue to improve this aspect as well.”
