Get ready, Assassin’s Creed fans – it appears that cherished early editions of the forthcoming entry, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, may have leaked ahead of schedule.

Unverified reports are starting to emerge, indicating that not only have some fans managed to download the full game early from the PlayStation Store, but physical copies have also been sold ahead of time.

There may be mild spoilers beyond this point, so proceed only if you’re comfortable with that!

Perhaps most notably, Assassin’s Creed YouTuber The Hidden One recently revealed that he knows someone who is playing the complete game on PS5 “because the PlayStation Store made an error.”

Acknowledging that he cannot disclose specifics or force anyone to share information with him, The Hidden One then stated that in the leaked footage, he observed that Animus anomalies are making a return – something that had not been confirmed for Assassin’s Creed Shadows previously.

“In the video [the friend with early access] showed me, the player encounters something Animus in the environment,” he mentioned.

“A notification appeared that said: ‘Animus systems breached. Stabilize anomalies and gather data fragments to progress your active strand.’

The player was then prompted to “press touchpad to access the Animus menu.”

While, as of now, there don’t seem to be any early streaming sessions on Twitch or YouTube, it might be a good idea to mute certain keywords on your preferred social media platforms, just in case…

Last week, Ubisoft indicated its expectations for Assassin’s Creed Shadows during its latest quarterly financial report, where it described pre-orders for the title as “promising.”

While the company refrained from disclosing exact pre-order figures, it stated that the numbers were “consistent with those of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, the second most successful installment in the series.”
