Bandai Namco Online Set to Merge with Parent Company in Strategic Restructuring
Current intellectual property will be transferred to Bandai Namco
Bandai Namco Online is set to be dissolved and incorporated into its parent entity.
In a brief press release, Bandai Namco referred to this as an “absorption-type merger,” which will see its subsidiary Bandai Namco Online—originally formed in 2009 to manage Bandai’s online offerings—cease operations and its business integrated into Bandai Namco.
It remains uncertain whether employees will be moved to the parent company along with its games.
Bandai Namco stated that this merger is a result of industry changes but anticipates continuing to deliver high-quality games that “surpass” the expectations of fans such as Idolish7, SD Gundam Operations, and Gundam Tribe.
The merger is expected to be finalized on April 1, 2025.
Earlier this year, Bandai Namco announced it would shut down the Japanese servers for Blue Protocol in January 2025, and cancel its Western launch entirely.
