“We are incredibly optimistic that Avowed will succeed on its own merits.”

Earlier this year, Xbox’s Avowed was postponed to February 2025—an opening that now appears crowded with titles like Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, and Monster Hunter Wilds all set for launch during the same month. However, the development team at Obsidian Entertainment is not worried about their schedule being so packed.
In a recent interview with GamesRadar, Obsidian’s Carrie Patel appears quite relaxed about the situation. In fact, Patel states that they are “personally” looking forward to all of these games being released—and they believe that Obsidian fans “will find exactly what they seek with Avowed” in February 2025.
“I don’t think you will ever find a time when there is absolutely nothing launching and you’re the only one out for a month. Nevertheless, we are very confident that Avowed will stand on its own.”
“I am really excited about many of these games releasing individually, and I believe we also provide an extraordinarily unique experience among them.”
To add some extra optimism regarding the postponement, Patel also mentioned that the game’s February 2025 release “has simply given us more time as a team to sort out any bugs and make those final adjustments”—which sounds like excellent news to us as the game gets refined for its launch.
Avowed will be available on Xbox Game Pass—even amid that busy period for the company—on February 18th, 2025.
