Last year, at MagicCon Las Vegas, Wizards Of The Coast announced that three collaboration products from the “Universes Beyond” series would be launched in 2025: Final Fantasy, Spider-Man, and an undisclosed universe. Recently, during a preview discussion at MagicCon Chicago, the organization revealed that the focus of the mystery universe would be: Avatar: The Last Airbender.

A brief teaser clip offered a quick glimpse of the characters and artwork that will be included in the release, though no cards were displayed at the panel. The Avatar expansion is set to launch on November 21, while Final Fantasy is planned for June, and Spider-Man is still awaiting its release date.

The full MTG 2025 release schedule also includes three in-universe expansions: Aetherdrift, which debuted on February 14, Tarkir: Dragonstorm, launching on April 11, and Edge Of Eternities, scheduled for August 1. The MagicCon Chicago preview panel also showcased several cards for Tarkir: Dragonstorm, including the serialized Headliner card for the set in Mox Jasper—the first in Magic’s ongoing “mox” series of cards since Mox Opal and Chrome Mox in 2020. These cards can also be viewed below.

The Universes Beyond project commenced in 2021, introducing five cards based on The Walking Dead via a limited-time Secret Lair drop, Magic’s short-term release initiative. Following this, Fortnite, Street Fighter, Tomb Raider, Hatsune Miku, and others saw similar short Secret Lair releases, with dedicated retail launches featuring themes from The Lord of the Rings, Fallout, and Doctor Who.
