Assassin’s Creed Shadows Joins Xbox’s Game Pass Library
With Assassin’s Creed Shadows just under a week away, Microsoft has announced that it will be the latest title to join Xbox’s continually expanding “Stream your own games” service.
Microsoft introduced the capability for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to stream “select” games they already own last November, nearly five years after revealing that the feature was in development. However, this service is different from the ability to stream Xbox Game Pass titles and currently supports only a limited selection of games.
Initially, 50 titles were included in Microsoft’s “Stream your own games” list – featuring popular titles such as Baldur’s Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – and it has since grown to include over 70 games. Ubisoft already boasts a significant presence on this list (many of its recent titles including Star Wars Outlaws and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown are featured), so it’s perhaps not surprising that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is next in line.
Microsoft announced the upcoming addition of Shadows to Xbox’s “Stream your own games” library in a social media message. The company has not yet specified exactly when it will be available for streaming to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers – only stating “soon” – but hopefully, it won’t be long after its release next week. Additionally, if you are seeking initial information, Ubisoft has already provided details on Shadows’ global release times.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows transports the series to 16th-century Japan, allowing players to experience events through the perspectives of two new protagonists: shinobi Fujibayashi Naoe and samurai Yasuke. Eurogamer’s Katharine Castle noted that Shadows was “shaping up to be one of the most promising [series entries] yet” when she previewed it earlier this year. Furthermore, if you’re considering other platforms, you may also want to know that Ubisoft has confirmed PS5 Pro enhancements.
