Update[
If you’re curious about what transpired, it seems the title’s launch has been rescheduled to the second quarter of 2025. Lavabird elaborated that they required “some additional time” in order to integrate various quality-of-life features, and now it’s merely a matter of progressing through the certification process:
“We needed extra time to incorporate all the quality-of-life enhancements players requested from the demo. We’ve accomplished that now, but we still require some time to complete platform certification on Switch prior to our release.”
Once an official release date is confirmed, we will notify everyone.
Original Report: After a successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, the turn-based tactical strategy game Warside has finally pinned down a release date. It will launch for Switch and several other platforms on Twenty-eighth January 2025.
If you missed our recent coverage on this title, as you might have guessed, it draws significant inspiration from a certain Nintendo series. The developer previously shared how they felt it could “advance” the genre and was eager to reference not just Advance Wars but also titles like Wargroove and Into The Breach as sources of inspiration.
“Our team grew up enjoying the genre-defining masterpieces from the Advance Wars series. We have continued to appreciate popular turn-based tactical games such as Into The Breach and Wargroove, but we genuinely believe we can further evolve the approach.
“If a new turn-based strategy game were to release today, what would it entail? How would it function? Warside endeavors to modernize the format while maintaining the charm, aesthetics, and essence of the genre’s classics.”
When this title debuts on Switch, you can expect it to feature a single-player narrative campaign, multiplayer support, and an integrated map editor. There will also be a selection of commanders to choose from as you “battle”…
