As we approach 13th April, HBO has unveiled an entirely new teaser for the second season of its critically-acclaimed series, The Last of Us.

Once again, the teaser illustrates how closely the television adaptation parallels the game, with several scenes seemingly reenacted shot-for-shot from The Last of Us Part 2, including the barn dance and the clinic basement.

Please note, there will be some story spoilers for The Last of Us Part 2 – and potentially the series – below.

The teaser runs just under two minutes, but certainly conveys a wealth of content, offering us a glimpse of the Scars, the Washington Liberation Front (WLF) soldiers, and Nora, illuminated by the eerie red glow of the clinic basement.

We also catch brief glimpses of Dina and Jesse, a familiar group trudging through the snow on a mission, along with the museum visit.

Interestingly, we also witness an Infected slowly releasing a cloud of spores into the atmosphere. While much of this aligns with the original game narrative, it likely suggests how the Cordyceps infection has evolved to survive in the series’ second season.

As the words “Every path has a price” flash towards the end of the video, Ellie looks at Joel in disbelief and states: “You swore.”

The second season of The Last of Us is set to premiere in the US on 13th April, and will consist of seven episodes, with one of those episodes being “quite substantial” in duration. It is still uncertain where the second season of The Last of Us will conclude, but showrunner Craig Mazin has already confirmed it will not cover the entirety of Part 2’s storyline. However, it will feature far more infected than the first season.

Last week, we learned that Joe Pantoliano, Alanna Ubach, Ben Ahlers, Hettienne Park, Robert John Burke, and Noah Lamanna will all be joining Bella Ramsey’s Ellie and Pedro Pascal’s Joel.
