Among Us: A 3D Evolution Steals the Spotlight at Steam Next Fest
Amongst Us became a sensational global phenomenon after we were confined indoors and could only connect with our friends by infiltrating their spaceships, camouflaged as treacherous alien bean figures. The deduction simulator is back in the limelight once more, courtesy of a somewhat recent 3D rendition.
Developer Innersloth revealed Amongst Us 3D just last month, introducing the anxious delights of the beloved Amongst Us into a three-dimensional environment featuring bean characters. However, upon closer inspection, it becomes apparent that Amongst Us 3D is essentially a rebranded Amongst Us VR, aiming to extend the game’s reach to an even broader flat-screen audience.
Amongst Us 3D will still remain intertwined with Amongst Us VR (but not with the original Amongst Us, for evident reasons), and it is the social gathering experience we cherish. “Gather your team of 4-10 players and dive into a completely 3D edition of the popular multiplayer game,” the Steam description states. “Collaborate as Crewmates to finish tasks before one or more Impostors eliminate everyone on board.” Amongst Us 3D features native proximity chat, both new and familiar minigames with enhanced first-person controls, and customizable bean avatars.
And, unsurprisingly, its Steam Next Fest teaser is turning it into a hit once more. Currently, Amongst Us 3D ranks as the second most popular game in Valve‘s demo showcase, trailing only behind the immensely popular MechaBreak.
The demo version is already impressive, even without revealing all that Innersloth has in store. Amongst Us 3D’s demo “does not encompass all features or game modes that will be available at launch, such as crossplay… or additional cosmetics.” So, who knows what else may come?
