The Lord of the Rings Trilogy’s 4K Blu-ray collection is available for just $55 at Amazon and Walmart, which offers this exceptional price from last year’s Black Friday. This collection includes both the theatrical and extended versions of Peter Jackson’s beloved adaptations: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King. If you’ve only seen the recent theatrical releases, the extended cuts alone are worth the cost of admission, as they add almost two hours of runtime to the already epic (and lengthy) film.
You can also combine The Lord of the Rings Trilogy with Jackson’s adaptation of The Hobbit for just $59.
- The Lord of the Rings Trilogy: Extended & Theatrical Editions (4K Blu-ray) — $55 (
$90) - The Hobbit Trilogy: Extended & Theatrical Editions (4K Blu-ray) — $59 (
$90)
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy: Theatrical & Extended Cuts (4K UHD Blu-ray)
$55 (was $90)
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy’s transition to 4K UHD is remarkably stunning. Middle-earth springs to life with the visual and audio improvements provided by Dolby Vision HDR10 and Dolby Atmos 5.1 surround sound. The only downside to this set is that it does not include a voucher for the digital versions of the films.
The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy does not feature any substantial bonus content, but you still receive two hours of additional material not shown in theaters. If you haven’t seen the extended versions yet, you’re in for a treat. Each film is considerably longer than its theatrical release, which is quite impressive considering the trilogy already runs over nine hours in theaters. The extended cut of The Fellowship of the Ring adds half an hour, The Two Towers is 44 minutes longer, and The Return of the King is 51 minutes longer. The Return of the King’s extended edition is one of the rare films that exceeds four hours.
Each film’s extended version is spread across two discs, while the theatrical versions are on a single disc each. Here’s a breakdown of the total runtime for both the theatrical and extended versions of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy:
The Lord of the Rings Theatrical Cuts
- The Fellowship of the Ring – 178 minutes (2 hours and 58 minutes)
- The Two Towers – 179 minutes (2 hours and 59 minutes)
- The Return of the King – 200 minutes (3 hours and 20 minutes)
Total runtime: 9 hours and 18 minutes
The Lord of the Rings Extended Cuts
- The Fellowship of the Ring – 208 minutes (3 hours and 28 minutes)
- The Two Towers – 223 minutes (3 hours and 43 minutes)
- The Return of the King – 251 minutes (4 hours and 11 minutes)
Total runtime: 11 hours and 22 minutes
The Hobbit Trilogy’s 4K Blu-ray collection is available for $59 at Amazon.

LOTR: The Fellowship of the Ring 4K Steelbook Edition (Walmart Exclusive)
$35 | Released January 7
Devout enthusiasts of The Lord of the Rings might consider adding the newly launched Walmart-exclusive edition of The Fellowship of the Ring to their collections—unless it’s already a part of them. The case displayed above comes from The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Steelbook Collection; Walmart is exclusively offering the first film individually. Hopefully, The Two Towers and The Return of the King will be made available soon, but it’s uncertain whether Walmart will offer all three titles.
Still, The Fellowship of the Ring’s Limited Edition Steelbook stands out as a beautiful collector’s item. It includes the same 4K Blu-ray remaster and special features as found in the $55 collection, plus a voucher for the digital version.
The Fellowship of the Ring’s 4K Limited Edition Steelbook has already sold out at least once since preorders began, but it is currently in stock at $35 and ready for shipping.
