Amazon Appstore Set to Close Its Doors on Android by August 2025

Amazon has announced that it will also be discontinuing its Android Appstore on August 20, 2025.

According to a report by TechCrunch, the company expressed that it aims to focus on supporting the Appstore for its own devices, stating, “that’s where the majority of our customers currently engage with it.”

The Amazon Appstore will remain available on Fire TV and Fire Tablet devices.

A notification was sent to developers on February 20, indicating that from that point onward, new apps intended for Android devices would be eligible for submission. Updates will still be accepted until the cut-off date.

Users in Japan “will no longer be able to make in-app purchases on the Amazon Appstore for Android devices,” however, this service will continue to be available in several marketplaces until August 20.
