AGBO Enlists Industry Veteran Pete Wanat to Lead Gaming Initiatives

AGBO, the autonomous production company established by Avengers directors Anthony and Joe Russo, has enlisted another gaming industry veteran in Pete Wanat.

Wanat has been appointed president of interactive technology at AGBO, a company created in 2017 with the mission to shape the “future of storytelling” across film, television, and gaming.

According to a statement, Wanat will lead the company’s gaming strategy to “enhance its dedication to immersive digital experiences to new levels.”

Prior to joining AGBO, Wanat held the position of chief creative officer at mobile studio Nifty Games and served as VP of games for Universal Pictures Digital Platforms Group.

He also dedicated two decades as an online game consultant for prominent companies such as Warner Bros. and Vivendi.

AGBO is no stranger to attracting gaming industry expertise. Last year, the company brought aboard former Epic Games chief creative officer and Fortnite creative director Donald Mustard as a partner.

The production company also secured a $400 million investment from South Korean gaming conglomerate Nexon in 2022.

Commenting on AGBO’s recent hire, Mustard noted that Wanat’s “extensive knowledge in game development” will assist the company in creating transmedia projects that seamlessly integrate.

“With his guidance, we can build expansive universes that span film, television, and gaming—providing audiences with richer ways to connect with our narratives,” Mustard continued.

Wanat mentioned that he joined AGBO to help creators innovate by “integrating their intellectual property into new formats of interactive entertainment.”

“I am eager to channel my strong passion and expertise in gaming to support the in-house teams, enhance the studio’s capabilities, and build upon AGBO’s culture of innovation and collaboration,” he remarked.
