AFK Streak Crowned Google Play’s Game of the Year 2023
In the meantime, Supercell secures two victories with Clash of Clans and Squad Busters
AFK Streak has been named the best game of the year on Google Play by the retailer’s editorial team.
This title, which debuted in March, is crafted by Lilith Games and published by Farlight. It’s an idle RPG that enables players to continuously earn XP and resources for their characters, even when they are not actively playing.
In Google’s top games of 2024 list, the Play editorial team lauded AFK Streak for its “stunning animation, exceptional voice acting, and enchanting world.”
While Lilith Games took home the grand prize, Supercell also performed well as the only developer to receive recognition in two categories.
The Finnish studio was honored with the best multi-device game award for Clash of Clans, which was praised for its performance whether played on smartphone, tablet, or PC, as well as best multiplayer for Squad Busters.
Squad Busters launched in May and is the sixth game released by Supercell. This multiplayer arena battler earned $1.1 million on its opening day and $24 million in its debut month. Earlier this year, we discussed with game lead Eino Joas about the development of the title and its early triumph.
Other developers recognized in Google’s year-end roundup included Hoyoverse, Noodlecake, and Netmarble.
