Indicators of activity

It has been some time since we last learned about the Call of Duty franchise returning to Nintendo systems, and following the recent launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on alternative systems earlier this month, there appears to be some indicators of activity.
As reported by Insider Gaming, a fresh job listing from Sledgehammer Games – looking for a “Senior Technical Artist” – has emerged on LinkedIn, and within the ‘Bonus XP’ section of the application, the team mentions its preference for candidates with “AAA mobile or Switch experience”.

Even though Sledgehammer primarily provided assistance with the latest Call of Duty installment, it has previously directed significant titles such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
This minor find follows an update from earlier this year in June 2025, where reports indicated that Microsoft and Nintendo still intended to unveil something pertaining to this franchise in the future.
Microsoft and Nintendo initially formed a 10-year agreement to deliver Call of Duty to Nintendo systems in 2022, with the arrangement becoming legally binding in 2023. Subsequently, Microsoft was granted approval on the Activision Blizzard acquisition in the same year.
Per a prior report, Sledgehammer Games is speculated to be launching its next Call of Duty title in 2027. This would likely follow a new Modern Warfare title by Infinity Ward, which is anticipated in 2026.
