Operating on the Football Manager framework

The free-to-access soccer management title SEGA Football Club Champions 2026 is set to launch on the PS5 and PS4 starting from January 22nd, as announced by SEGA.
This title is not to be mistaken with Football Manager 26 Console, which is also distributed by SEGA, rather intriguingly. It will utilize the same engine and technology as Sports Interactive’s lineup, nonetheless.
In contrast, this is a continuation of a long-established Japanese series known as Saka Tsuku, or Let’s Make a Soccer Team.
This series debuted on the SEGA Saturn, subsequently receiving releases on the PS2. Its most recent iteration launched on the PS3 and PS Vita back in 2013.
It’s noteworthy that this game will be entirely free-to-access. It will also facilitate crossplay across multiple platforms, enabling players to carry over their progress from the PlayStation versions to PC and mobile.
The official description states:
“Become the head coach of your club and elevate your team from local legends to international stars. The cherished soccer club management simulation from Japan, Saka Tsuku, is now available for global audiences with this latest edition! Commemorate 30 years of dedication and strategy in this legendary title brought to you by SEGA!”
We’re unsure about how the monetization model will function at this point, but the launch appears to be quite comprehensive, featuring in-depth tactical options, the capacity to enhance training facilities, and extensive scouting features.
