2B or not 2B?

Nintendo launched its newest firmware update for Switch 2 last evening, introducing several overall enhancements for the console. In conjunction with these modifications, the update also seems to have aligned with some compatibility remedies, including one title we’ve been eager to see functional for a while: NieR:Automata The End of YoRHa Edition (appreciation for the alert, My Nintendo News).
Square Enix and PlatinumGames’ sci-fi ARPG has remained in a rather poor condition on Switch 2, with numerous users reporting persistent crashes while attempting to launch it on the new equipment. A quick look at Nintendo’s compatibility information website prior to today listed NieR: Automata as “Unsupported – Complications with game progression have been discovered,” but that all seems to be in the past as of system update 21.0.1.

As of 25th November 2025 (which is today), the game’s entry has been revised to “supported” on Switch 2, with the note stating that “previously noted issues have been resolved”.
This is a welcomed modification, as NieR: Automata excelled on Switch 1, and now we possess the ideal reason to engage once more. In our 9/10 review of the original Switch release, we depicted Automata as “an outstanding port that has evidently been crafted with care and precision, frequently exceeding our expectations in both graphics and performance”. *Sigh* as if we didn’t already have an ample backlog of games to tackle before the year concludes…
Will you be trying out NieR: Automata on Switch 2 now that it’s functional? Share your thoughts in the comments.
