Matthew Lillard expresses that Mike Flanagan’s forthcoming Carrie television series is not just faithful to the book, but entirely worthwhile to anticipate.
“Carrie’s exceptional. Mike Flanagan – with whom I collaborated on Life of Chuck – is truly the most remarkable force in this field,” Lillard shares with GamesRadar+. “We practiced for three weeks. He had meticulously planned out every shot in the whole film. He knew the timing precisely in terms of how long it would take to film. He created an app so you could track where they were in the filming process. I mean, he’s incredibly prolific and insightful and a remarkable storyteller. So that’s the initial point.”
The character was initially brought to life by the late Stefan Gierasch, meeting a gruesome fate in the 1976 movie. His conclusion is somewhat closer to the novel in the 2002 remake (which features a significantly underrated script authored by Bryan Fuller), though it appears Flanagan’s Carrie (similar to his previous King adaptations) will adhere to the 1974 novel.
