Transitioning from Switch and PlayStation

In the last year or so, you may have come across an indie title called Thank Goodness You’re Here! that has become quite popular on PC, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation, and it is now set to launch on Xbox on December 9th, 2025.

This game is a self-proclaimed “comedy slapformer” set in Northern England, where you’ll investigate the town of Barnsworth as a wandering merchant while encountering the rather peculiar locals.

Here’s what our affiliated site Nintendo Life wrote about it in their “Outstanding” 9/10 review last year:

“Thank Goodness You’re Here! is a short yet incredibly delightful jaunt into a realm that simultaneously seems absurd and yet completely logical to those acquainted with British culture. Filled with fantastic humor (a notable achievement for a video game), stunning visuals, and superb animation, it’s remarkable how much the developers managed to pack into its brief duration. Performance might not be 100% flawless on Switch, and if you lack a sense of humor, you may question its significance, but it remains one of the most enjoyable and exhilarating experiences we’ve had in years on Nintendo’s system. Our faces ached from laughing so hard, and we believe there’s no higher compliment than that.”

Even though it didn’t feature in yesterday’s Xbox Partner Preview showcase, Thank Goodness You’re Here! is still an Xbox Play Anywhere title—this means if you purchase it for Series X and Series S, you will also receive the PC version free of charge.

We’ll share a few additional details along with some visual snapshots below.

“Thank Goodness You’re Here!” is a comedy slapformer, which evolves over time as the players’ explorations and antics impact the unusual town of Barnsworth. With every completed strange task, new parts of the town become accessible, more bizarre assignments arise, and the countdown begins toward our merchant’s significant meeting. The town’s lively inhabitants are brought to life through vibrant hand-drawn visuals, fully voiced dialogue, and non-stop double entendres.
