Poll: Box Art Brawl
Hello everyone, and welcome back to another installment of Box Art Brawl!
Previously, we examined Inazuma Eleven for the DS, which resulted in a heated contest where Europe triumphed against Japan with 71% of the votes. Great job!
This time, in honor of the 35th anniversary of the SNES, we thought it would be worthwhile to explore the box artwork for the SNES Classic Mini, launched in September 2017. Continuing the trend initiated by the NES Classic Mini, this was a charming tribute to the original SNES and included a variety of pre-installed games, many of which are regarded as all-time classics.

North America
Alright, so the North American design is quite lively, right? We have a picture of the console and controllers at the center, six games enumerated on the right (including the recently launched Star Fox 2), with the main logo at the bottom.
We appreciate the color palette here; the blacks and reds complement each other effectively, giving the box a slightly more ‘mature’ vibe.
Europe
Europe’s design follows a similar theme, yet is also… distinct. The black/red color scheme continues, but there aren’t specific games identified on the front. Instead, there’s a small piece of key artwork from Super Mario World in the bottom right corner. Minimalistic, but effective.
What on earth is with the age ratings, though? Why are they so oversized?! Yikes, no… Not for us.
Japan
Ooooooh. Ooooooh. Alright, we’re attempting to remain impartial, but ooooooooh.
This design is truly stunning. While North America and Europe’s designs could be labeled as chaotic, this one is their complete contrast. Instead, we have a refined approach that replaces the black color scheme with white, while the outlines illustrating the console and controllers introduce a delightful splash of color.
We appreciate your participation! We look forward to seeing you next time for another Box Art Brawl.
