Original Story: At the end of the prior month, Bandai Namco declared that it would be overhauling Shadow Labyrinth with a significant update. Version 1.1.0 has now been officially launched across various platforms. These updates are not yet available for the Switch 2 and Switch but will “be released shortly”.

For now, here’s the complete overview of this upcoming major update, featuring the introduction of “Explorer Mode”, balance modifications for the existing mode, and enhanced gameplay controls for Mini-PUCK. Modifications

  • Introduction of Explorer Mode
    • This mode significantly decreases the challenge of combat and exploration, allowing for a more enjoyable experience of the story and environment
    • The existing mode, which was accessible upon Shadow Labyrinth’s initial launch, will now be recognized as “Veteran Mode,” enabling you to continue relishing the intense gameplay you expect!
  • Mode Switching Method
  • You can change modes at any point during save data selection on the title screen or from the Miku Sol (Save/Warp Point) menu
  • There are no drawbacks to selecting “Explorer Mode,” so feel free to enjoy the game in the mode that best aligns with your playstyle
  • Main Changes in Explorer Mode
    • Increased attack strength for Sword Fighter and GAIA
    • Reduction in damage taken
    • Contact damage is negated
      • Contact damage occurs when certain enemies are struck, or during specific enemy actions like charging
    • Reduced energy consumption rates and enhanced recovery effects
    • ESP consumption has been diminished
    • Improved GAIA energy recovery during predation (consuming foes)
    • GAIA Energy automatically regenerates during Sword Fighter phase
    • Accelerated ESP recovery speed while crouching
    • Increased recovery speed once ESP hits 0
  • Support for Athletic Recovery
    • In certain regions with notably high platforming difficulty, failing three consecutive times will create a warp point, granting the ability to bypass that particular challenging area
  • “Tenacity Boost” is now available
    • “Tenacity Boost” provides a further increase in attack power!
    • When “Tenacity Boost” is activated, the Sword Fighter’s cloak changes to red, and attack power gradually rises each time you perish
    • Players can toggle Tenacity Boost ON/OFF and adjust its intensity anytime via Miku Sol (Save/Warp Point)
  • MAZE difficulty modifications
    • This includes boss weakening, MAZE stage modifications, and alterations in item placement within MAZE.

The following changes apply to both Explorer Mode & Veteran Mode

  • Updates to Miku Sol (Save/Warp Points)
  • Notably increased the number of Miku Sol (Save/Warp Points) and Simple Miku Sol (Save Points)
  • Additionally, several Simple Miku Sol have been swapped for Miku Sol that enable warping, greatly enhancing player convenience
  • Mode Change/Settings added to Miku Sol Menu
    You can now toggle between Explorer Mode and Veteran Mode from the Miku Sol menu at any time.
    Additionally, you can now switch “Tenacity Boost” ON/OFF and set its intensity.
  • HP tanks will now recover even in Simple Miku Sol
  • MAZE Adjustments
  • Adjusted MAZE clear rewards
  • The required reward score to clear MAZE has been lowered, facilitating easier acquisition
  • Furthermore, Ora can now be obtained when the score gauge is at maximum, or when the reward score is reached even if the reward has already been acquired
  • Maximum bonus fruit acquisition increased from 100 to 200
  • If you fail the MAZE for Red Bragza: Terrias-Gilba, Blue Bragza: Terrias-Juno, Orange Bragza: Terrias-Valou, or Pink Bragza: Terrias-Boz Rag, players can opt to skip it
  • Included save/load support for the retry feature from MAZE boss battles!
  • MAZE that have advanced to the boss battle can now resume from the boss encounter after restarting the game
  • Mini PUCK Gameplay Control Adjustments
  • Included operational tutorial stages within Miku Sol’s menu, certain MAZE, and following some events
  • Introduced a specific button for neutral jumps (jump without directional input). This minimizes the likelihood of accidental inputs
  • Incorporated diagonal forward-up stick input to the normal jump button. Inputting the stick diagonally forward-up and jumping now follows the identical trajectory as a neutral jump, enhancing control intuitive
  • Enhanced mid-air control post-jump
  • Additional Adjustments
    • If defeated during the conclusive battle against the last boss, you can now retry from the final confrontation!
    • Reduced consumption and increased recovery of various energy sources
      • No ESP consumption when Devour as the Sword Fighter
      • Reduction in ESP consumption during evasive maneuvers
      • Increased GAIA energy recovery during Devour (Recovery also slightly amplified in Veteran Mode)
  • Fixes
    • Resolved an issue where the game could crash during the staff roll. (Nintendo Switch version only)
    • Corrected an issue in which, in certain MAZE, the speed when ejected from a booster decreased at high refresh rates. (Steam version only)
    • Addressed an issue where ESP would not naturally regenerate and the menu could not be accessed after dying under certain circumstances
    • Other minor corrections
