In a moment of endearing unity, the developers of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 chose to utilize one of their acceptance addresses at the Golden Joystick Awards to highlight narrative adventure Dispatch. The superhero saga has just completed its inaugural season, and Sandfall Interactive has relished the journey.

Guillaume Broche, the CEO of Sandfall and creative director of Clair Obscur, acknowledged during his team’s achievement for Best Storytelling. “Play Dispatch, it’s extremely cool,” he stated at the conclusion of his address, “It features a fantastic narrative, if you enjoyed this one.”

Dispatch has emerged as an unexpected success this year. The initial season of the animated narrative featuring superpowered individuals has attracted millions of players thus far, and we just received the final two episodes recently. It draws inspiration from The Boys and Invincible, yet is not quite as grim as either.

Produced by AdHoc, a firm established by former Telltale developers, Dispatch embodies the spirit of what made The Walking Dead and the Wolf Among Us exceptional, focusing on choice-driven gameplay with a diverse set of choices and pathways for outcomes. With numerous diverging paths, season 2 has abundant ground to cover.

It’s a stark contrast to the dramatic essence of Expedition 33, yet that’s precisely what makes it an excellent choice for subsequent play. A palate cleanser, if you will, and if you appreciated the intricacies of Clair Obscur, you are likely to discover much to value in Dispatch.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 secures 7 titles at Golden Joystick Awards, tying with Baldur’s Gate 3 – and Larian leader Swen Vincke affirms: “Definitely deserved.”
