It is already widely acknowledged that It: Welcome to Derry‘s Will Hanlon is the progenitor of Mike, one of the central figures in It (2017) and It: Chapter Two, as well as in Stephen King’s initial novel. However, enthusiasts are now persuaded that a second child will endure Pennywise’s 1962 terror and proceed to nurture another member of the Losers’ Club.
On November 19, the show utilized its Twitter account to unveil the front page of the imaginary ‘Derry Herald’. While it encompasses articles about Hank Grogan being dispatched to Shawshank Prison and the continued protests concerning the Paul Bunyan statue, the primary story describes how Marge (Matilda Lawler) was left “injured” in a “baffling classroom incident” at Derry High School. What stands out, however, is the revelation of her complete name being Margaret; identical to Richie Tozier’s mother in the narratives and films.
HER COMPLETE NAME IS MARGRET YEAHHHH THATS RICHIES MAMA WE FUCKING TOLD YALL https://t.co/qpHANPgoWTNovember 19, 2025
“Honestly after watching episode two all I could ponder was how much she resembled Richie with her comedy,” responded another user, while a third commented: “They labeled me insane but I can sense it in my bones I RECOGNIZE MY TOZIERS WHEN I SPOT ONE.”
While Margaret Tozier is more frequently referred to as Maggie, there’s a good possibility Marge matured and preferred a change in her nickname. It’s also interesting that Marge wears Coke bottle glasses, just like Richie. “Doctors remain optimistic that she will regain her sight,” in the article implies Marge will recover her vision as well, which counters those arguing that the theory can’t hold as true since Maggie “has both her eyes.”
If Marge is Richie’s mother, we’re concerned about what that could imply for Arian S Cartaya’s Rich – and speculate why she would have named her child after her childhood companion. Will Rich end up sacrificing himself to rescue Marge, and will she honor him by doing so?
“Bro, this just keeps affirming my belief that Rich will perish,” one anxious Twitter user expressed, while another remarked: “YUUUP, Rich is definitely in trouble i fear tho..”
It’s not solely the names that prompt us to consider Rich may not survive to the conclusion, either. In episode 2, during the moment he first encounters Will (Blake Cameron James), Rich gazes affectionately at Marge as she strolls past the boys’ lockers at school. In that instant, the light makes her glasses shimmer, causing her eyes to appear disturbingly akin to Pennywise’s for a fleeting, eerie moment. Could this be a foreshadowing hint that she will lead to Rich’s demise? Only time will reveal.
