The Lost Soul Aside Redemption Arc Starts in Tomorrow’s Feature-Packed PS5 Update

Lost Soul Aside creator UltiZero Games aims to achieve a No Man’s Sky as it endeavors to enhance and refine its somewhat average PS5 action title that launched a few months back. This initiative commences tomorrow, 18th November 2025, with an extensive patch that introduces a new mode and a selection of additional features to the original game.

The main feature is a new mode titled Surge of Voidrax, where players battle through 100 waves of foes with escalating difficulty in a trial of “endurance and tactic”. The four weapons from the original game and the complete skill tree are available to you in this mode, and resources to create new cosmetic rewards will be obtainable after succeeding in specific waves.

Foes and bosses from the narrative will challenge your combat abilities, and between waves, you can stop by Liana’s Shop to replenish health items, make upgrades, and boost your Arena Power. “Surge of Voidrax is not merely a mode; it’s a genuine assessment of skill, strategy, and determination. How far can you advance?”

The original game is also undergoing enhancements with fresh options and features, detailed below via the PlayStation Blog:

• Skip the prologue

Anxious to dive into the core action right away? Now you can opt to bypass the Prologue, diving directly into the fray and becoming immersed in the electrifying combat system of Lost Soul Aside.

• Voidrax Pathfinder assists with navigation

Encountering difficulties with intricate puzzles or tasks? The novel Voidrax Pathfinder directs you right to objectives or aids in unlocking puzzles, enabling you to explore at your leisure.

• New skins

Customize your appearance with an array of new looks, including adjustable “X” weapon accessories, classic Crystal weapons, and striking armor and knight outfits—ideal for creating your unique style.

• Enhanced cutscenes

Cutscenes have been entirely overhauled! We improved character expression animations for more realistic emotions, refined global lighting and shadow effects to enhance the atmosphere, and incorporated environmental voice lip-sync animations. Collectively, these updates offer a genuinely cinematic storytelling experience.

The studio goes on to outline a few additional technical enhancements included in the patch:

• Customizable controls, enabling players to adjust button configurations to their liking.
• Polished core combat actions such as rolling and double jumps, with finely tuned responsiveness for weapons like the Scythe and Greatsword—making combos seamless.

“From the intense challenge of Surge of Voidrax to individualized experiences with the Voidrax Pathfinder, along with refined cinematic storytelling and a plethora of new looks, this update is filled with authenticity, aiming to provide an enriched, more captivating gameplay experience in Lost Soul Aside,” stated game director Yang Bing.

These updates and enhancements will contribute to elevating a PS5 title we described as “fantastic and painfully clumsy.” In our Lost Soul Aside PS5 review, we assigned a score of 6/10 and criticized its weak characters and performance issues. “We could overlook many of these shortcomings if the action was genuinely exceptional, but even the combat falters against sponge-like adversaries and a frustrating absence of weight. Lost Soul Aside is a commendable effort to emulate the greats of its genre, but it simply lacks the same sharpness as its inspirations.”
