Rumour: Zelda Movie Production Set Footage Has Supposedly Leaked Online

And we might have knowledge of another cast member…

If you can divert your focus from The Super Mario Galaxy Movie for just a moment, it appears we might have the very initial leak from The Legend of Zelda Movie set.

Although very few details have been disclosed about the film thus far, it was verified earlier this month that the live-action is officially “in production” in New Zealand. Now, an update this week suggests that footage has supposedly surfaced from the production, featuring some clips of cast members and the crew.

This is where this speculation possibly enters spoiler territory, so if you wish to avoid any surprises before official announcements, leave this page now. With the spoiler warning out of the way, the first video that’s been posted on Instagram showcases two characters in a woodland area, surrounded by horses (with one horse adorned with equipment displaying what seems to be the Hylian Crest).

The first performer is thought to be Bo Bragason as Zelda, dressed in an outfit reminiscent of her attire in Breath of the Wild, while the second performer (who we have not heard about previously) is reportedly the Australian and Tibetan actress Dichen Lachman, recognized for her current role in the Apple TV+ exclusive, Severance. She has also collaborated with director Wes Ball on Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

As for the role she is portraying? Based on the footage, fans are already convinced she will be Impa. Long-time Zelda enthusiasts will recognize Impa as a recurring figure in the Zelda franchise, depicted as the bodyguard and mentor of the Princess.

The second scene circulating appears to feature an older incarnation of the series’ protagonist Link dressed in his green tunic, which he has donned across numerous games, including titles like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess. The footage in this upload even depicts him donning a cloak, and some fans speculate that his horse Epona is also featured in another clip.

We would be astonished if the original clips remain available if they are legitimate. Naturally, for the moment, it’s probably wise to treat this alleged leak as a rumor, but we must say the footage certainly appears convincing, and casting someone from across the ditch (aka Australia) would align well with the production’s location.

Aside from Zelda’s casting, the only other actor officially confirmed for the Legend of Zelda Movie is Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link. Regarding the storyline, some basic descriptions have surfaced online, but that’s about it.
