It’s that season of the year again, everyone. GOTY timeframe is nearly here, and although Mr. Keighley’s significant event remains hush-hush about its nominees at the moment, other ceremonies are already preparing to acknowledge a victor.
One such occasion is the Indie Game Awards, an awards ceremony dedicated to developers focusing on — you guessed it — indie games, which has unveiled its final nominees across 18 varied categories today.
The categories span everything from ‘Achievement in Accessibility’, to ‘Bite-Sized Game’, ‘Community Management’, to ‘Emotional Impact’. The grand prize of them all, as one might anticipate, is ‘Game of the Year’, and this year’s nomination list is almost overflowing with fantastic entries available for your enjoyment on Switch right now.

The nominees feature prominent titles like Hollow Knight: Silksong and Hades II, but also encompass smaller releases, such as Citizen Sleeper 2, and Roger, Absolum, and Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo — several of which we can strongly recommend exploring on Switch. There are also appealing titles that we’d adore to see arrive on Switch 2 in the future, like Consume Me, Keep Driving, or indie favorites Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Blue Prince.
Popular Switch titles appear throughout the rest of the nominations, like BALL x PIT for ‘Gameplay Design’, Herdling for ‘Music’, Antonblast for ‘Solo Development’, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown for the ‘Black Voice in Gaming Award’, and Duck Detective: The Ghost of Glamping for ‘Women-Led Indie Game Award’.
