Former Nintendo of America leader Reggie Fils-Aime has publicly expressed his astonishment that Microsoft has not yet “fully acknowledged” the Switch 2 regarding game releases.
In conversation with The Game Business, Fils-Aime remarked, “Certainly, several titles could easily be transferred to Switch 2. And I’m surprised that we haven’t seen an increase in that.”
He further stated: “I anticipated much more, particularly during this period leading up to the holiday season.”
Fils-Aime continued by saying he has been anticipating some form of “specific announcement” from Microsoft about the games it intends to provide for Switch 2. “It’s surprising it hasn’t occurred,” he mentioned.
In 2026, Microsoft plans to release Indiana Jones and the Great Circle for Switch 2. Furthermore, Microsoft-published games such as Minecraft and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 are already accessible on Switch 2. There are also speculations about Halo arriving on Switch 2, although the device was not referenced when Microsoft announced Halo: Campaign Evolved recently.
Phil Spencer has indicated his desire to support Nintendo
Earlier this year, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer stated he was “really eager to” assist Nintendo in the future with its own Xbox games.
“I believe they are such a crucial part of this industry,” Spencer noted about Nintendo. “Who would ever wager against the accomplishment of that team? They are truly brilliant in what they accomplish—Switch is a colossal success—and I am confident Switch 2 will be as well.”
Microsoft has also repeatedly mentioned that it desires to introduce Call of Duty to the Switch family, but as of now, it hasn’t materialized, and this week’s new release, Black Ops 7, is yet to be confirmed for Switch 2.
