Following a brief preview during the September Nintendo Direct, a fresh trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy film has been unveiled. The follow-up to The Super Mario Bros. Movie is set to debut on April 3, 2026, and reunites the vocal talents from the 2023 film, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, and Jack Black as Bowser.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie was immensely successful at the box office, grossing over $1.36 billion worldwide during its screening and achieving the status of the highest-grossing video game movie ever. Beyond financial success, the film garnered favorable critiques, and Jack Black’s “Peaches” tune became a cultural phenomenon for several weeks as well. One of the new characters featured in the film will be Yoshi, as a Pillsbury box recently provided a sneak peek at Mario’s beloved dinosaur companion.

Next year and the following years will be a bustling period for video game adaptations, with an upcoming live-action rendition of Silent Hill 2 arriving on January 23, 2026. Production is also in progress for the Zach Cregger-directed Resident Evil film, and Mortal Kombat 2 is scheduled for release on May 8, 2026.

Numerous other video game films are at various stages of creation, but if you are feeling restless for something pertaining to video games, you can check out Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 on December 5.
