Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail developer HoYoverse is flourishing at the moment, consistently unveiling new games.

Devoted followers will observe that two new games were disclosed recently: the Animal Crossing-inspired Petit Planet (currently in beta) and the creature collecting auto-chess battle Honkai: Nexus Anima.

However, it is also discreetly planning for the future with a more realistic endeavor, utilizing Unreal Engine 5.

The project remains nameless at this stage, but a brief concept video was identified by ResetEra on a recruitment portal.

The initiative outlines a succession of buzzwords: MMO, PvP, open world, and even AI. It appears the studio may be contemplating some form of generative AI to assist in crafting the environment, but this is purely conjecture based on ambiguous translated details.

Honestly, we wouldn’t anticipate this to launch for several years – although it is intriguing that it seems to be experimenting with a project that lacks its characteristic anime art style.

We surmise that, regardless of anime’s current popularity, this will always pose a barrier for some, making it logical to provide something a tad different visually.

To those concerned about the AI references, the Chinese developer has previously stated it will never leverage the technology for artistic or voice performances, ensuring its creative integrity will remain preserved.

Clearly, we’ll keep you posted when more information is revealed regarding this specific project, but we wouldn’t expect updates until well into the PS6 generation – or possibly even later.
