By The Mario and Zelda films are merely the beginning

Nintendo’s film ventures are already thriving after the launch of the Mario Movie in 2023, which became a worldwide box office success.
Subsequently, it has revealed a live-action Zelda feature, and more recently disclosed details about The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (a sequel to the original animated Mario Movie). Additionally, it has Nintendo Pictures and Nintendo Stars assisting with the growth of video and cinematic content, with Shigeru Miyamoto closely collaborating on the present film initiatives.
If you are curious about what lies ahead, the company’s latest financial briefing has hinted at even more in the pipeline with a simple visual. The goal is to create a structure for a “steady release schedule”:
“Following the release of The Super Mario Bros. Movie in 2023, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is set for release in 2026, and the live-action film adaptation of The Legend of Zelda is planned for 2027.
We are persistently preparing for the continuous release of films in the future.”
As highlighted in the graphic above, the next installment is The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, anticipated for April 2026. This will be succeeded by The Legend of Zelda film, which is scheduled for 2027. The primary characters for the Zelda film have been cast, though additional details remain scarce at the moment.
