Rockstar Games co-founder says GTA 6 is carrying so much hype “because they don’t come out that regularly” and the series has been “constantly innovating”

GTA 6 is generating immense excitement, it’s virtually a video game vortex that’s bound to consume every final ounce of everyone’s attention and time when it debuts next summer. However, Rockstar Games’ co-founder and former GTA leader Dan Houser has clarified why the forthcoming game is so eagerly awaited, even though he’s no longer involved.

During a conversation with Lex Fridman, Houser remarked that individuals are thrilled for GTA 6 “because they don’t release with great frequency,” which might be an understatement considering GTA 5 first launched way back in 2013, though substantial time intervals aren’t the sole factor making Grand Theft Auto titles feel like significant cultural occurrences.

“I believe we executed exceptionally well in continually innovating within the boundaries of what the IP was,” Houser elaborated. “The games consistently felt distinct, you know, people harbor very strong sentiments… because they [the games] are quite dissimilar [from one another]. It’s a Grand Theft Auto, you’re aware it’s going to be centered around criminality, but the manner in which it will unfold as a game is set to shift considerably. So, I think, the evolution of the IP excited people greatly to engage with it.”
