Animal Crossing: New Horizons has just disclosed that it’s receiving an absolutely massive update on 15th January 2026 alongside a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. It’s packed with new elements, characters, and an entire hotel. But perhaps the most significant update comes in the shape of some brand new partnerships.

First, following multiple successful sets of Animal Crossing Lego Sets, Lego is actually joining the game itself. You’ll have the opportunity to purchase a whole range of Lego-themed furniture and apparel through Nook Shopping, allowing you to live your brick life fantasy on your island.

You’d better accumulate those Bells, then. We’re already setting our sights on that arcade game as our initial buy. No, we don’t require a sofa, this is far more crucial…

Next, we have a collaboration with Legend of Zelda that will reward you with some stunning themed furniture and apparel if you possess compatible Zelda amiibo.

There’s an abundance of Breath of the Wild-themed items like a Guardian (it’s inactive, no need to worry) and a Zonai Device, but you can also spot Majora’s Mask, the Master Sword, Tri (from Echoes of Wisdom) along with wallpaper and flooring inspired by the forest where the Master Sword is found.

Likewise, Splatoon amiibo will also unlock some incredibly vibrant furniture (note: Big Man Sofa) and clothing. It seems these will be purchasable via Nook Shopping once you have scanned the amiibo.

Furthermore, two additional amiibo bonuses. Scanning Zelda amiibo will permit you to unlock Mineru and Tulin as villagers, whereas Splatoon amiibo will give you access to Cece and Viché. And they look adorable.

Goodness. That’s a lot, and it’s not even the majority of 3.0! A whole array of content is being introduced to the game next January, featuring the triumphant return of playable retro gaming consoles (kind of!) along with a multitude of quality of life enhancements.

And, don’t forget, update 3.0 is free.
