Talking Point: How Do You Feel About Halo: Campaign Evolved Launching Day One On PS5?

Master Chief has finally made the leap

Well, there it is – Halo: Campaign Evolved is set to arrive on Xbox Series X|S in 2026. Nonetheless, with Microsoft’s fresh multiplatform approach, the game is also set for PlayStation 5 next year, alongside PC as expected. That said, how do you feel about the latest Halo remake being launched on the same day as PS5?

This genuinely marks uncharted ground for Xbox, doesn’t it? Of course, Gears of War: Reloaded performed similarly back in August, but that was more of a straightforward remaster from Gears: Ultimate Edition – and it was also merely Gears. There’s something about Halo transitioning — Xbox’s most legendary franchise — that makes this recent port announcement feel quite distinct.

That being said, Microsoft seems to be adopting a different strategy based on whether it’s an entirely different Xbox Game Studios project or not, at least for the time being. Forza Horizon 6which is also debuting in 2026 — has a period of exclusivity on Xbox, before eventually transitioning to PS5 later on. Whether Halo: Campaign Evolved being a remake plays a role in this, we’re not 100% certain – but regardless, Halo’s PS5 version is launching on the exact same day as Xbox.

This surely feels like a somewhat new beginning for Xbox, but how do you feel about it? Are you okay with Master Chief appearing on PS5 next year – on the same day as a new Xbox release? Or, would you rather have Xbox postpone this PS5 version beyond its Xbox and PC launch similarly to FH6?
