Only the solo player in Halo: Campaign Evolved

Microsoft has formally declared that the Halo series is transitioning to PS5 in the format of a reimagining of the initial game, named Halo: Campaign Evolved. You can already add the game to your wishlist on the PS Store, with the reimagined version set to release in 2026.

This serves as a “loyal yet updated reimagining” of the original’s solo player storyline. There will be no multiplayer component included.

The storyline has been “remade with enhanced graphics, refreshed cinematics, and improved controls”. Alongside the returning campaign, there will be three completely new prequel missions set prior to the events of the main game, featuring Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson.

In addition to being playable solo, there will be local two-player split screen and four-player online cooperative modes. Crossplay and shared progression will also be available across consoles and PC.

Navigate through the original missions, newly reconstructed with upgraded level design, refreshed cinematics, and optimized navigation, polished to maintain the pace without sacrificing the awe, suspense, or heroism of the original.

There will be new graphics, cinematics, and animations, along with a remixed soundtrack and fresh voice acting. Moreover, a sprint feature will be introduced to the gameplay, alongside nine legendary weapons from the broader series, including the Energy Sword, Battle Rifle, and Needle Rifle. There’s also an enhancement allowing players to aim those weapons down sights, an improvement over the original Xbox version.

Here’s a complete mission playthrough of The Silent Cartographer, a beloved level from the game:
