Hades II had an outstanding debut when it launched in September, and shortly it will receive its inaugural post-launch update. Creator Supergiant Games has now unveiled a preview of what enthusiasts can look forward to on the official Steam game page.

Alongside bug corrections and balance modifications, Patch 1 will be packed with True Ending Improvements, Returning to a Genuine Possibility, Adjustments to Fated Prophecy, and Revitalization of Crossroads. Hades II – Post-Launch Patch 1 Preview

Besides a variety of bug fixes and some balance modifications, this patch features…

True Ending Improvements: Introduced new events leading up to the True Ending, along with some that follow. In conjunction with this, increased the number of Underworld clears required, and added to and revised elements of the main True Ending scenes prior to the end credits. Note: The overwhelming majority of adjustments pertain to the Underworld route; the Surface route remains largely the same.

Returning to a Genuine Possibility: Introduced the Cauldron incantation that allows players to revert to a previous point in the narrative if they wish to relive key events, like the True Ending.

Adjustments to Fated Prophecy: Several character-related Prophecies, including one associated with the narrative epilogue, should progress more swiftly than previously.

Revitalization of Crossroads: Numerous decorative items have lower costs in Kudos than prior. Any surplus Kudos you have already utilized will be refunded.

The comprehensive set of modifications currently in Patch 1 is as follows:

Aspects of the Nocturnal Arms

· Witch’s Staff (Circe): Smolder Ring (Hestia) now additionally activates Scorch from the bonus Cast when your Casts overlap

Boons & Blessings

· Anvil Ring (Hephaestus): enhanced damage for Common Rarity
· Controlled Burn (Hestia): boosted bonus from Poms of Power
· Ares: expanded Plasma pickup range
· Sword Ring (Ares): increased damage
· Carnal Pleasure (Ares x Aphrodite): enhanced effectiveness
· Success Rate (Hermes): now likewise impacts Nurture of Hera (Selene x Hera)
· Shadow Pounce (Artemis): enhanced effectiveness
· Gigaros Dash (Hades): no longer staggers opponents when this inflicts direct damage
· Life Tax (Hades): heightened effectiveness; restorative impact is no longer diminished by Vow of Scars (Oath)
· Last Gasp (Hades): increased effectiveness
· Howling Soul (Hades): refined targeting of the projectile
· Fight Fight Fight (Echo): enhanced effectiveness

· Jeweled Pom (Hades & Persephone): you no longer retain the bonus Hades blessing if you are not at the Fates’ Whim; resolved an issue causing this to never yield Last Grasp (Hades)

Well of Charon

Yarn of Ariadne: now also increases the likelihood of discovering Duo Boons (as in the original game)
Mist Veil: now restores Magic that is lost for any reason (not solely from utilizing Omega Moves)

Foes & Dangers

· Unrivaled Prometheus: modified hitboxes of specific Heracles attacks within this Encounter
· Headmistress Hecate: slightly diminished hitbox of flame attacks to improve alignment with visuals
· Phantom (Fields): decreased effectiveness of Life-drain effect; removed this effect from certain attacks

Special Encounters

· Introduced a preview icon for Location exits leading to an Infernal Conflict (after the True Ending)
· Nemesis can no longer appear more than once per night while traversing the Underworld
· now appears slightly more frequently

Level Design & Environments

· Various minor fixes and enhancements across several Locations

The Crossroads Renewal Project

• Introduced Primordial Chaos theme to the Music Maker

Crossroads Cauldron

Disintegration of Monstrosity: you are no longer mandated to cast this as soon as you can afford to
Greatest Gift of Gaia: minimized requirements for this to be revealed

Fated List of Minor Prophecies

Melinoë, Help Us: heightened priority of key events, enabling this to be fulfilled more swiftly
Silk and Spitefulness: heightened priority of key events, enabling this to be fulfilled more swiftly
Voice and Vanity: heightened priority of key events, enabling this to be fulfilled more swiftly
Born to Win: now revealed sooner and more reliably
Natural Talent: resolved an issue causing this to be absent in certain cases
Denier of Suitors: diminished requirements needed to fulfill this

Art & Visual FX

· Introduced artwork to several True Ending scenes prior to the credits
· Introduced animations for certain characters in some True Ending scenes
· Introduced portrait variation for Hecate
· Added blinking animation to Melinoë’s ‘hesitant’ portrait
· Introduced death animation for the Yargonaut
· Updated animations for opening and closing certain menu screens to be smoother than previously
· Numerous other minor visual adjustments and enhancements

Voice & Narrative

· Introduced new events featuring Chronos, Zagreus, Hecate, and Hades on the journey to the True Ending
· Introduced new events with Chronos, Zagreus, Hecate, Schelemeus, and Hades and Persephone post-True Ending
· Added more contextual voice lines for Melinoë and Hecate in specific instances
· Adjusted several events after the True Ending in consideration of other changes
· Scylla now reveals her remarkable hit Bewitching Eyes sooner than before
· Icarus can now be convinced to return to the Crossroads more promptly than before
· Other minor modifications and enhancements

Music

& SFX

· Artemis’ melody in the Crossroads no longer ceases abruptly at a certain distance
· Enhanced sound effects for Cinerary Circle (Hades)
· Resolved some Keepsake equip sounds playing with a delay
· Additional minor adjustments and enhancements

Configurations

Danger Pulse: new! You can now disable the continuous flashing at critical Life statuses
FPS Limit: new! You can now set a maximum frames-per-second limit to your liking while VSync is deactivated

Miscellaneous

· Enhanced compatibility with macOS Tahoe security settings
· Inventory information for Gigaros and Entropy displays faster than previously
· Updated inventory tips for various resources
· Added notifications when Keepsakes from Athena and Selene cannot be utilized in specific contexts

Bug Corrections

• Resolved Argent Skull (Hel) not activating consistently while Melinoë is against a wall
• Corrected Argent Skull (Medea) text mistakenly suggesting its passive bonus applies to Omega Special as well
· Fixed instances where rewards could be claimed while under the effect of Time Piece (Chronos)
• Resolved Calling Card (Zagreus) unexpectedly refreshing all uses for the night after leveling up
• Resolved Back Burner (Apollo) not applying its benefits when executing certain actions
• Addressed Steady Growth (Demeter) resetting its timer after being Rarified
· Fixed Rapture Ring (Aphrodite) pulling enemies after they are defeated

• Rectified high-cost Boons of Hermes available in shops not consistently possessing improved Rarity
· Fixed projectiles from Charybdis not dividing as anticipated after hitting certain barriers
· Resolved instances where Jetty could remain stuck during resurfacing
• Addressed multiple instances where Melinoë could end up outside boundaries in a Location

• Resolved incorrect text occasionally appearing on the Victory Screen
• Corrected inaccurate Gold preview when Nemesis seeks to trade for Quick Buck (Hermes)
• Fixed scenarios where music could stop playing unexpectedly
· Addressed cases where the Past Deeds screen would not indicate the foe that ended your night
· Resolved instances where Odysseus and Dora could appear too closely positioned in the taverna
· Fixed specific visual effects persisting during Melinoë’s Return to Shadow escapes
· Corrected a visual problem where text formatting would not reset after resetting the Oath of the Unseen
· Fixed the Play Screen displaying your location as The Crossroads despite recently departing for the night
