Onward to the subsequent

The PS5 has now surpassed the PS3 in terms of overall sales in the US.
This is according to the most recent figures from the ever-reliable Circana (previously NPD) analyst Mat Piscatella, who reports that Sony’s current generation console outpaced the PS3 as of September this year.
Those who experienced the PS3 era may recall the challenges that the system faced — particularly during its initial years in the marketplace.
Indeed, the Xbox 360 was exceedingly favored in the US, to the extent that the PS3 struggled to match its success. However, the system ultimately managed to outsell Microsoft’s more affordable device globally.
It achieved sales of approximately 87 million units by the end, with around 23 million of those sales occurring in the US.
Thus, it’s not particularly surprising to witness the PS5 surpassing PlayStation’s least successful home console to date — but considering the PS5 is expected to be around for a minimum of two or three more years, it serves as a solid milestone.
How high do you anticipate the PS5 will ascend? Will it eclipse the PS4, or could it begin to plateau? Feel free to mention the PS6 in the comments section below.
