By The notion of exclusive titles in 2025 is “obsolete,” as stated by Xbox president Sarah Bond. She expressed in a recent discussion that individuals are progressing significantly beyond the concept that a game ought to be exclusive to a particular store or device.
“The largest games globally are accessible everywhere. Take a look at Call of Duty, consider Minecraft, observe Fortnite, and examine Roblox … that’s genuinely what’s fostering community in gaming. That’s where players assemble. The notion of restricting it to one retail outlet or one platform is outdated for most individuals,” she revealed to Mashable.
“You aspire to play with your companions anywhere, irrespective of their platform. And we are fully embracing that with this experience [Rog Ally X]. It merely opens up another manner for you to engage, as does cloud gaming, as does PC, as do the consoles we all possess in our living rooms,” she continued.
Once, Microsoft was a staunch advocate for exclusive games, but the corporation has revised its commercial approach and recently chosen to distribute its games in additional venues, including competitive systems.
On the other hand, Sony has also begun extending more of its titles to areas beyond PlayStation, such as PC and, for Helldivers 2, Xbox. Conversely, Nintendo exclusively releases its games for its own dedicated platforms, and this has proven to be a successful strategy for the firm.
Microsoft does not apply a uniform strategy across all its game launches, as some titles are launched on various platforms at the same time, while others are not. One upcoming Xbox title that could potentially cross to PlayStation is Starfield, with reports indicating this announcement will take place in 2026.
