There Are Major Concerns Regarding Plants vs Zombies' PS5, PS4 Re-Release 1

Plants vs Zombies Replanted is launching next week on the PS5 and PS4, and it should be a reason for jubilation. After all, it’s arguably one of the finest tower defense games ever created.

However, whispers are starting to circulate about the caliber of the port, which is purportedly derived from an outdated Windows Phone (?) version that has been transferred into Unity.

We assume it wouldn’t be as troubling if the conventional gameplay remained intact, but Reddit asserts that pre-launch footage is riddled with glitches and inadequate AI upscaling.

At this point, it’s significant to highlight that it’s uncertain which build leaked and whether this showcases the final version. A day-one update could potentially enhance aspects.

One important thing to mention is that the original artist of the game has raised concerns about some of the “earlier designs” featured in the re-release.

“These ‘initial sketches’ for [Plants vs Zombies] are all nonsense,” stated Rich Werner on X (or Twitter). “It’s humorous that Disco Zombie is included because we received a request from MJ’s estate to modify it. I reimagined it on the spot in one afternoon. No chance of an initial concept.”

Our speculation is that the artwork is actually sourced from Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare, the franchise’s competitive multiplayer offshoot. If that is genuinely the case, it reflects the potentially subpar quality of this product overall.

Let’s wait and observe how matters progress once the complete product debuts on 23rd October, but it might be prudent to hold off on your pre-orders for the time being. This may not be the assured success it ought to be.
