Pokémon Legends: Z-A has finally launched on Switch and Switch 2, but with all the promotion centered on the latter version, you might be curious about how TPC’s newest performs on Nintendo’s earlier system.

Well, the amazing Felix Sanchez is here to illustrate. In the accompanying side-by-side analysis video, you can catch a glimpse at how Legends: Z-A operates on both Switch 1 and Switch 2, highlighting standard gameplay, cutscenes, and loading durations.

As you’ll observe, the Switch 2 includes many of the enhancements that we would anticipate. The 60fps improvement is a pleasing sight in comparison to last generation’s 30, resolution and texturing have greatly advanced, and numerous load times have progressed positively — though not all of them, as shown in the video.

That being said, the Switch 1 segment appears… surprisingly satisfactory. It’s undoubtedly much more choppy and slower than the Switch 2 version (as one would expect), but at least it maintains a reasonably stable appearance. It’s no TOTK, naturally, but was anyone really expecting that?

What are your thoughts on this video comparison? Have you acquired the Switch 1 version yet? Share your opinions in the comments.
