Xbox Fan Thinks They’ve Discovered More ‘Play Anywhere’ Titles Being Added Soon

Perhaps a malfunction, perhaps the genuine article

With the ROG Xbox Ally now circulating, there’s been optimism that Microsoft may hasten its Xbox Play Anywhere initiative further and include some major titles in the lineup, and one fan believes they’ve found a few on the horizon.

This individual turned to Reddit on Wednesday to detail that when they selected the “Xbox Series X|S” and “Handheld” options for playable games on the Xbox site, they discovered five titles that lack Xbox PC versions as of this moment.

Consequently, they suggested (at least at the time) that these five games would be added to Xbox Play Anywhere:

As highlighted, the five titles referenced here include Oddsparks, Mortal Kombat 1, Baldur’s Gate 3, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 and Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon. Notably, they were subsequently removed from the list after the Reddit discussion gained momentum.

To be frank, we were initially a bit dubious about this finding due to the intermittently unreliable nature of Xbox Store listings, but there are grounds to consider that these games might receive the treatment.

Baldur’s Gate 3 stands out particularly as it has appeared in ROG Xbox Ally promotional materials as a playable game via the Xbox app, which is evidently not the case as it currently stands.

You can view an example of this below – it does not display the Steam logo alongside it as one would expect.

Mortal Kombat 1 would be sensible for two reasons – Warner Bros. has recently made one of their other titles compatible with Xbox Play Anywhere (Hogwarts Legacy) and MK1 is rumored to be debuting on Game Pass very soon as well.

Ultimately, we cannot ascertain whether the appearance of these games was merely a glitch on the Xbox Store, which can be quite frequent, or a sign of upcoming releases in the near future. Regardless, we will be monitoring the situation closely.
