Croc’s Switch Remaster Returns This Week With A Free ‘Platinum Edition’ Update

Featuring accomplishments and a fresh title…

Argonaut Games has revealed that its Croc remaster is receiving a significant upgrade. It will officially bear the name Croc Legend of the Gobbos: Platinum Edition.

This complimentary update will be implemented for the console variants of the game (including Switch) on 16th October 2025 and aims to provide the “optimal Croc gaming experience”.

The ‘Platinum Edition’ will feature a new Time Attack mode, over 25 additions to the Crocipedia, the capability to toggle between Croc Main Theme mixes in the main menu, bug resolutions, along with numerous quality-of-life enhancements and modifications.

The team further clarifies how the title alteration is linked to PlayStation’s Trophies system. This identical update will introduce a new trophy set and will also incorporate these achievements into the Switch (including its own “in-game Achievement tracking screen”).

“So why the updated title? Excellent question! When we first launched the Croc Legend of the Gobbos remaster, we hadn’t included a sufficient number of trophies to qualify for the Platinum trophy on PlayStation. Additionally, it’s not allowed to simply correct this with a patch. Therefore, we needed to devise a more intelligent approach: release a new version of the game with a complete trophy set, encompassing 16 new Trophies and the greatly sought-after Platinum Trophy.”

Once again, this update will be available later this week for the Switch. You can discover more about this title in our Nintendo Life review:

“Croc: Legend of the Gobbos wasn’t precisely a groundbreaking release in the 3D platforming category even during its initial launch, and while it still doesn’t necessarily ‘amaze’ us today, it remains an enjoyable and valuable journey. Features like the revamped controls, improved visuals, and comprehensive museum content are gratifying additions, and the fundamental adventure itself is still a good retro 3D platforming experience, flaws included.”
