Atlus marked the first anniversary of Metaphor: ReFantazio last night, and honestly, we’re pleased we refrained from staying up until 5am to see its 15-minute presentation.

As is customary with events like these, some enthusiastic fans were hoping for a substantial reveal. DLC, an enhanced re-release, a Nintendo Switch 2 port… Yet, the only update was a new digital version of the game.

The ‘Guidebook Edition’ is slated for release early next year, and it will feature the RPG’s official strategy guide, artbook, and soundtrack — all in digital format.

This strategy guide isn’t the complete version, either — it’s a ‘summarized’ edition of the physical product.

To be fair, if you’ve already purchased Metaphor’s Atlus 35th Anniversary Digital Deluxe Edition (phew), then you’ll receive the previously mentioned strategy guide at no extra cost. A nice little perk, we suppose.

For what it’s worth, the video also includes expressions of gratitude from both the development team and the game’s English voice actors. It’s at least heartening to see such a high-quality game getting some extra recognition.

Perhaps even a little too much, some might argue.
