A first-person viewpoint, also

After last month’s launch, Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter is currently receiving an update to Version 1.05 on the Switch and Switch 2.

Most importantly, the Switch 2 update will introduce “image quality and performance adjustments.” Furthermore, there is also a first-person viewpoint mode. Here’s the translation from the official Falcom website (via Gematsu):

  • Included “Image Quality / Performance Adjustments” for the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition.
  • Introduced settings to modify text speed and the pace of text auto-advance.
  • Implemented one-key shortcuts for actions that typically require two key presses on a keyboard.
  • Included a first-person viewpoint mode.
  • Introduced an option to conceal the in-game user interface.
  • Rectified various text inaccuracies.
  • Resolved additional minor bugs.

*Updates for Nintendo Switch™ 2/Switch will be provided at a future date.

To enable this first-person mode on the Switch 2 and Switch, you must press R + ZL. To conceal the user interface, you need to press R + ZR.

If you happened to overlook it, here are the updates for Version 1.04:

  • Included camera distance setting to the options
  • Modified the Brave Attack input acceptance timeframe in High-Speed Mode
  • Resolved an issue where certain battles could become unprogressible.
  • Fixed a crash that may happen when switching between maps.
  • Corrected a crash that could occur while navigating the Orbment menu.
  • Rectified typos and omissions
  • Addressed additional bugs

In our review here on Nintendo Life, we noted that there were some “minor performance concerns” in the Switch 2 edition. Here’s a snippet of what we expressed about this specific version of the game:

“The adventure of our sibling Bracers is most remarkable on Switch 2, which aims for 60fps…Undocked is particularly the optimal mode and operates with what feels like impeccable consistency in combat and exploration of the open world. Docked also performs admirably, but there are occasional frame stutters in populated areas and during visually intense battles. The game isn’t a visual behemoth by any stretch, but it’s delightful to see the characters journey through lovingly crafted settings without any sacrifices on the newer console.”

Have you experienced this game on the Switch or Switch 2 yet? What are your thoughts on the experience thus far? Let us know.
