By Helldivers 2 isn’t listed on Xbox, but it might be a mistake
August 2025 proved to be a considerable month for single player titles, with both Mafia: The Old Country and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater securing third and fourth positions respectively on the overall best-sellers chart.
Both titles couldn’t surpass NBA 2K26 or Madden NFL 26 as anticipated, but these remain favorable outcomes for devotees of classic, single-player experiences.
Gears of War Reloaded, a series making its entrance on PS5, also performed exceptionally on Sony’s platform. It concluded in sixth place on both the all-formats and PlayStation rankings. Since it was accessible as a complimentary upgrade through Xbox Game Pass, it didn’t feature on the Xbox charts.

Sony’s game Helldivers 2 also failed to break into the Xbox top ten, raising doubts about the company’s choice to port it at all. It remains uncertain if digital information is being shared with Circana in this case, which may account for its absence. Piscatella states he’s looking into it.
It’s also significant to mention Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles 2, which surged from the 24th spot the previous month to 10th place following the release of The Infinity Castle film. That film has now amassed over $600 million worldwide.
Regrettably, concerning hardware, the PS5 experienced a “double-digit percentage drop” year-over-year and was comfortably outperformed by the Switch 2 this month.
Nintendo’s console is now consistently ahead of the launch trajectory established by the PS4, even during a calmer season. Its availability has generally been outstanding, however.
