Channing Tatum has expressed his opinion regarding the condition of the film industry, and it doesn’t appear optimistic.

Tatum made his comments while expanding on a previous statement he shared with Variety concerning streaming platforms: “The streamers arrived and messed up the industry somewhat – both positively and negatively. The studios are bewildered; the streamers are puzzled.”

“I believe that now, when you’re approached to participate in a film, or you’re aiming to produce a movie, it’s a very chaotic network of options,” Tatum stated on Hot Ones. “And it honestly feels, at times, that you’re motivated to create subpar content just to earn a paycheck, rather than to craft something truly excellent, for the audience that will actually watch these films and the individuals I wish to see these stories, the kid I once was, and I crave exceptional movies. I’m like, ‘Man, I desire to support the good films.’ It’s such a topsy-turvy moment.”

“However, I am optimistic that the disruption will result in something positive,” he continued. “I genuinely believe that. I truly believe that the streamers entered for a purpose, and it needed to transform, it had to evolve.”

Tatum is set to reprise his role as the Marvel character Gambit in Avengers: Doomsday, which is set to premiere next year. He first portrayed this role in Deadpool and Wolverine, in a surprise cameo that became one of the highlights of the Marvel Phase 5 film.

“[Marvel] set a standard for themselves with each film and managed to surpass it every time. While I was reading, I thought, ‘No, how are they going to pull this off?!’ You’re just not prepared… It’s going to make your brains ooze out of your ears,” Tatum recently disclosed about the forthcoming Avengers film.

Alongside Tatum, the extensive ensemble cast features reprising X-Men actors such as Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen, along with MCU favorites like Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, and Chris Hemsworth. Additionally, the Fantastic Four and Thunderbolts* casts will also be making a return.

Doomsday is set to debut on December 18. In the meantime, take a look at our guide to all the upcoming Marvel films and series for everything else that awaits.
